ADULT, CHILD, AND FAMILY THERAPY
Bluff’s Edge offers comprehensive services that include therapy sessions for:
- Individual children
- Individual adults
Whether you are facing a specific issue or seeking improvement in your sense of well-being, the best therapeutic practices start with an assessment. During this evaluation stage of treatment, we work closely with you on understanding your needs but also on identifying your strengths. This process serves as the foundation for building on what is already working for you or your family.
From there, we develop a set of goals, large and small, that serve to measure progress throughout treatment. Next we select relevant treatment approaches to assist you in reaching your goals.

NURTURING PARENTING PROGRAMS™
The Nurturing Parenting Programs are intended to empower parents so that they can more confidently cope with the stresses of parenting and raising their children. Originally designed as a child abuse prevention program, it has evolved into a community-based program designed to teach positive ways to discipline which maintain empathy and self-worth of the child, and enhance self-awareness for the parent.
These programs are evidence-based, competency-based, family-focused programs designed to meet the needs of children at specific developmental stages. While we provide comprehensive classes for groups of parents, at Bluff’s Edge we also tailor this service to individual families, targeting the specific developmental stages to meet each family’s unique needs.
Ten Principles define the Nurturing Parenting Programs ™
- Instruction is based on psycho-educational and cognitive behavioral approaches to learning
- “re-parenting” theory fosters replacement of counter-productive parenting patterns
- Nurturing oneself as a man or woman is critical to becoming a nurturing parent
- Recognition of the difference between “being” and “doing”
- Self-awareness and acceptance of past events are critical to growth
- Behavior is multi-dimensional
- Nature is influenced by positive and negative nurture
- Childhood experiences are the building blocks of life
- All life events carry both affective and cognitive cellular memories
- Adults learn and change by seeing, hearing, feeling, reading, experiencing, and doing

FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS FOR YOUTH
Likely the most under-served population of children in the child welfare system and behavioral/emotional health care system today are children and youth who have misused fire. Often misunderstood, this population has been marginalized to a large extent and often their needs go unmet by agencies serving children and their families.
At Bluff’s Edge we work with these challenging issues. We offer risk assessments for children and youth have misused fire. Using a variety of standardized assessment tools, comprehensive evaluations are completed to assess the youth’s level of risk for future fire-related events and make recommendations for meeting the individual’s service and treatment needs.
